2019
Kenbu Dojo Compete at British Kenpo Karate
Association Championships Nov 3rd 2019

On November 3rd 2019, twenty junior students ranging in age from 5 to 17 years old, travelled to Exeter, UK to compete at the B.K.K.A Championships. They did amazing!
We came away with 8 British Kenpo Champions and a total of 24 places.
We are sooooo incredibly proud of each and every member, win or loose they each gave their absolute best they could on the day. There was smiles, tears and plenty of teamwork.
It was commented by Ms Jaki Mc Vicar on the day that the kids had great spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day. Alongside many compliments on their style of sparring on the day. Thank you Ms Mc Vicar.
The team trained incredibly hard for this event, thank you to all who helped to raise the funds we needed to get to the event by coach. Also thank you to all the parents for getting the kids to training each week and for funding all the kit they required for the day also.
We are super happy with our results and are looking forward to next year already for sure!
Thank you to all those in Exeter who put the the event together and ran it on the day.
2018

STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2018
During our awards ceremony our biggest award was presented to one child from each Gloucester class and one from Bristol. As voted for by their peers in their respective classes, these are the winners for 2018!

George - Gloucester Beginners
This year we had our first SOTY for our Gloucester Beginners groups. Out of two classes George stood out a mile, as he is super helpful, caring, polite and most importantly trains really hard every single lesson. He takes care of everyone in his class and truly deserved the award this year.
Lucy - Gloucester Dojo
There was a strong deciding vote in our biggest class group. Truly deserving of the award this year was Lucy, who smiles her way through every lesson, helps her fellow students, has shown great loyalty and determination throughout the year, always giving 100% effort. She is no doubt the rightful winner for 2018 SOTY for Gloucester.
Finley - Montpellier Dojo
Finley has been training for a number of years now, but this year really showed true grit and determination in his training. When things seemed impossible he just trained harder and achieved all his 2018 goals including adding British Kenpo Champion to his list of achievements. A fantastic role model for our Montpellier Dojo.
Erin - Bristol Dojo
From her first lesson to now, Erin has shown true warrior spirit, she trains incredibly hard every lesson and always wants to give the next big challenge her best effort. Erin is a great role model and if she continues training as well and hard as she has been, will most definitely become a force to be reckoned with in the not so distant future.
Kenbu Interclub Tournament 2018
December 8th 2018 saw our second ever Kenbu Tournament take place in Montpellier Hall, Gloucester. This year we had 7 classes all compete against each other and it made for a truly fantastic and inspiring day all round. Students trained really hard this year and really showed what they could do with some great results all round. While some of our newest students showed that even with being super nervous they could still give their absolute best. Shidoshi Sinead is super proud of you all and cannot wait to see where 2019 takes you, exciting times lie ahead.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2017
During our awards ceremony our biggest award was presented to one child from Gloucester and one from Bristol. As voted for by their peers in their respective classes.

Jemima - Gloucester
This year there was a unanimous vote for Jemima to be STOY. She is a student who trains her heart out every single week, helps everyone with a smile. She practices constantly and is a great role model for all the other students in her group. Well done Jemima you are amazing!
George - Bristol
This year fellow students could clearly see the hard work and dedication that George put into his training and how helpful he is to his peers, the voting reflected this. George has been marked as a young boy with more courage and bravery than most of us could imagine. Keep up the great work George!
2016

Student of the Year 2016 - Gloucester
Nyla Phillips
This year our biggest award of student of the year went to Nyla Phillips, who over the past year has gone from strength to strength. Nyla started off training just over a year ago, when she was so scared she would only watch for weeks from the side. Eventually she gathered the courage to join in. Since then Nyla has come on leaps and bounds showing everyone how great you really can be when you put your mind to it and try your best. All the instructors are super proud of Nyla. Keep up the great work and you will soon be an excellent martial artist!

Student of the Year
2016 - Bristol
Shaun Rigby
Our newest class for 2016 was Bristol, and so our first ever Student of the Year was Shaun Rigby. For his outstanding effort so far in his training. Shaun gives 110% every week at training, he graded for his Red Belt and had all the instructors commenting on just how great he was and how hard he was trying. Well done Shaun, you did fantastic and here is to a great 2017 ahead for you with all your training.

Student of the Year 2016 - Montpellier
Gabriel Huckson
Gabriel started training early in 2016 and has given 100% since his very first class. He tries super hard every single class, he helps his fellow ninjas if they need it. With his super bright attitude it was no surprise that he won this outstanding award! Gabriel has had an unbelievable year and there is no doubt that his 2017 will be even better. Watch this space because there is soon to be a super ninja in Gloucester's Montpellier Dojo!

Budo on the Beach 4
Our Junior Ninja's took a roadtrip to south Wales for a training day to remember!
This years Budo on the Beach 4, was well attended by our Junior students. Over the course of the weekend they got to try their hand at different styles of martial arts including; Taekwon Do, Bartitsu & Ninjutsu to name a few. Everyone in attendance took their test for their next belt and everyone passed with flying colours.
The training ended with plenty of laughs when we played a game which meant everyone got drenched in water. Finally finishing with presentations of certificates and awards.
Then the children had a day off to enjoy the many great facilities of Trecco Bay Holiday park. Parents reported that everyone slept well after the day, which is always the parents goal. Watch out for news on this years event over the next few months.
